Video Tutorial

Example Steps

1 Add Cable Type

For this, we can refer to the post Add a Cable Type , we need to add a cable type with 2 buffers and 12 fibers per buffer

2 Add Splitter Type

For this, we can refer to the post Add a Splitter Type, we need to add a splitter type with 8 ports

3 Add Rack Type

For this, we can refer to the post Add a Rack Type.

4 Add an Active Device

For this, we can refer to the post Add an Active Device, we are going to use a Huawei MA5800-X15, as shown in the example in the same section. This device has the following characteristics

Name Card Number or Slot Number of Ports Signal Type
GPON 0/2 2 16 1310
GPON 0/4 4 8 1310
GPON 0/11 11 16 1310

5 Edit our map with the new version

6 Add map

For more information, you can read the section Add Map

Refresh the page

7 Select Map

This step is important, for the following steps we must make sure that we have selected the map where we want the elements to be created
This is to better control our map's elements

8 Add Active Device to Map

We need to add a rack-type marker

Fill in the information

9 Add Directory for Splice Boxes

In this step, a directory will be created to separate the splice boxes

10 Add Splice Boxes to Map

For our example, we create 3 Markers of type Splice Box

Name Splitter Type
SPLICE-BOX-001 8 Ports
SPLICE-BOX-002 8 Ports
SPLICE-BOX-003 8 Ports

Now we will create the other 2, with the information shown earlier

11 Add Directory for Cables

We can follow step 9

12 Connect our points

Cable Name Point A Point B Cable Type
CABLE-RACK-001-A-SPLICE-BOX-001 Huawei MA5800-X15 OLT SPLICE-BOX-001 24 Fiber Optic
CABLE-SPLICE-BOX-001-A-SPLICE-BOX-002 SPLICE-BOX-001 SPLICE-BOX-002 24 Fiber Optic
CABLE-SPLICE-BOX-002-A-SPLICE-BOX-003 SPLICE-BOX-002 SPLICE-BOX-003 24 Fiber Optic

We will use the tool to create cables, once selected, we must choose the Marker A where the cable will start and the point Marker B where it will end.

A form will appear for us to add the corresponding information

Now we will create the other 2, with the information shown earlier

13 Connect Active Device (OLT) to Cable

Now, we will work on connecting the fibers. For this, we will use ports 0/2/0, 0/2/1, 0/2/2 of our OLT

To learn how to connect fibers from a rack to fibers from a cable, you can read the section Rack to NAP Union

Connect our points

We will see how they look like the following

14 Connect Splice Box Fibers

SPLICE-BOX-001
